Philippians 1:6 | And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Ahh, the finish line! What a great day that will be! One day we will finally reach the finish line of the Christian life and receive the prize that God has promised us.

We will finally and fully be like Jesus himself. The best part is that God himself will complete the job. While we must run our race and cooperate with God in our transformation, God has promised that whatever isn’t finished in us, he will finish when Christ returns for His kingdom.

Our transformation will be complete physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally. No more pain, no more struggles, no more worries. God himself will restore us to what He intended for us to be all along, perfect in His sight. What a comfort for all of us. We’ve all had struggles in the race of life, but one day those struggles will be gone and replaced with the peace that surpasses all understanding.

But until that day arrives, we must continue to trust in the promise of God. You see He began a work in each of us as Christ followers at our salvation and that work will one day be complete at Christ’s return but in the interim we need to keep fighting and struggling to win our race. In Philippians 1, Paul comforts his readers with the truth that it is upon God that we depend for the completion of His promise and not on our work. In chapter five of the second epistle to the Thessalonians, Paul confirms this truth, “²³Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. ²⁴ He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.”
